At an age when many professionals begin seeking stability, Rachana Gupta and Vishal Gupta chose a different path. At 44, after building successful corporate careers, Vishal in strategy, operations, and finance and Rachana in marketing, consumer insights, and brand building, they stepped out of comfort and into uncertainty to cofound Gynoveda in 2019.

“What drew us to women’s health was the glaring gap in care,” Co-founder Rachana recalled. “Between ages 15 and 55, a woman experiences nearly 400 menstrual cycles, pregnancy, motherhood, and menopause, yet healthcare treats these as isolated events.” She explained that conventional treatments often suppress symptoms instead of addressing root causes, while Ayurveda offers a holistic framework combining herbs, nutrition, and lifestyle practices.

“More than 600 million women in India face menstrual disorders, and over 30 million couples struggle with infertility. These aren’t just statistics,” she mentioned. “They represent silent suffering and deferred dreams.” Their approach focuses on treating the whole person and, in infertility cases, the couple as a unit.

Launching their website on March 1, 2020, just weeks before COVID 19 shut down the world, tested their resolve. Early customers acquired online became their strongest allies, offering feedback that helped refine products and improve the customer journey. Early belief from Fireside Ventures encouraged them to continue when proof was still emerging. Later support came from India Alternatives Fund, Wipro, and DS Group.

Starting with a five member team, they have grown to more than 500 employees and clinics across multiple states. “From revenue of barely a lakh per month to a nationwide presence feels surreal,” Founder and CEO Vishal highlighted.

Building a company as a couple required challenging norms. “People say spouses should not put all eggs in one basket,” they shared. “But together we could pursue a shared vision.” They also defied expectations by choosing leadership roles based on strengths. “What is right shall always stay right,” they said.

Headquartered in Mumbai, the company claims to have served over 6 lakh customers, launched more than 80 products, and helped enable over 20,000 pregnancies. For the couple, the journey is less about numbers and more about purpose. As Vishal puts it, “We focus on inputs, fairness, and genuine effort. The outcomes follow.”
