IndiGo has appointed Kiran Thadimarri as its new Chief Financial Officer (CFO). He succeeds Gaurav Negi, who is now transitioning to the role of adviser to the managing director.

Before joining IndiGo, Thadimarri served as Senior Vice President, Finance at Udaan, an eB2B platform.

Thadimarri, an Institute of Chartered Accountants of India alumni, comes with over 24 years of experience in finance, spanning controllership, treasury, capital raising, taxation, investor relations, and financial planning.

Career Background

At Udaan, he handled controllership, financial planning & analysis (FP&A), treasury, capital raising, audit, taxation, and investor relations.

Before this, he cofounded GENWORKS Health, an initiative by GE for empowering healthcare professionals operating in the rural areas to deliver better medical facilities and diagnostics while keeping things affordable

Earlier, he served at Wipro GE Healthcare, a medical technology joint venture in India between Wipro and GE HealthCare. Between 2004 and 2007, he served as CFO at GE Water India.

Why does this appointment matter?

His appointment is part of a broader leadership reshuffle underway at the airline and the InterGlobe Group.

In recent months, IndiGo co-founder Rahul Bhatia has overseen several senior management changes as the airline pursues its next phase of domestic and international expansion.

Bhatia stepped in as interim CEO of IndiGo in March 2026 following the sudden resignation of Pieter Elbers. Negi’s move to an advisory role is also intended to ensure continuity in the finance function.

The rejig also comes after the company reported a consolidated net loss of INR 238 crore in Q1 FY27 due to sharply rising fuel costs. Revenue growth, however, surged nearly 20 percent year‑on‑year to INR 24,584 crore.

Roles & Responsibility as CFO

As CFO, Thadimarri will be the Key Managerial Personnel (KMP) for IndiGo and will be responsible for:

  • Financial strategy & oversight – guiding the airline’s financial planning, budgeting, and risk management in a high‑cost environment.
  • Capital management- overseeing liquidity, cash flow, and funding strategies, including maintaining IndiGo’s strong cash balance of INR 52,885 crore.
  • Cost control – managing operating expenses, including fuel cost volatility, and implementing cost‑optimisation measures.
  • Investor relations  reporting to the board, managing disclosures, and engaging with shareholders.
  • Regulatory compliance – ensuring adherence to SEBI, RBI, and other statutory requirements.
  • Strategic finance leadership – supporting operational decisions with financial analysis and forecasting.
