Zenex Animal Health India Private Limited, backed by Multiples Alternate Asset Management, has completed the acquisition of the companion animal business operating under the SAVAVET brand from SAVA Healthcare Limited. The transaction marks Zenex’s third strategic acquisition since partnering with Multiples, following earlier deals for Ayurvet and VievePharm.
SAVAVET is among India’s leading companion animal healthcare businesses, with a portfolio of approximately 70 brands spanning parasiticides, antibiotics, cardiac care, pain management, dermatology and wellness, distributed through roughly 165 stockists and relationships with over 6,000 veterinarians nationwide. The acquisition expands Zenex’s presence across companion animal healthcare, adding to its existing portfolio spanning livestock, poultry, herbal healthcare and international markets.
Following the divestment, SAVA Healthcare will retain its farm animal business and continue manufacturing agreed products for Zenex and other veterinary companies in India and abroad under contract manufacturing arrangements, while focusing management attention on human health formulations, pharmaceutical R&D and contract manufacturing.
Ernst & Young LLP acted as financial advisor to Zenex on the transaction, with Cyril Amarchand Mangaldas as legal counsel. PwC served as exclusive transaction advisor to SAVA Healthcare, with Legalogic as its legal counsel.
“Companion animal healthcare is one of the fastest-growing segments of animal health in India, and SAVAVET brings Zenex immediate scale through its strong portfolio, established market presence and network of over 6,000 veterinarians,” said Dr. Arun Atrey, Managing Director, Zenex Animal Health.
