Linux Laboratories, a domestic formulations company, has secured $70 million in equity capital from ChrysCapital and Tata Capital Healthcare Fund III (TCHF III). ChrysCapital has acquired a significant minority stake, with the transaction combining primary capital and a secondary purchase that includes a full exit for Tata Capital Healthcare Fund II at approximately 4x returns. Avendus Capital acted as exclusive financial advisor to Linux on the transaction.
Founded in 2007 and headquartered in Chennai, Linux operates a specialty-focused formulations platform with over 125 brands across roughly 400 SKUs, holding a leadership position in central nervous system (CNS) therapies covering epilepsy, neuropathic pain, depression and autism, alongside dermatology, cardio-diabetics and nutraceuticals. The company reaches over 60,000 doctors through a field force of more than 1,000 medical representatives across seven divisions. It has grown through acquisitions, including the Biomedica and Indiabulls Pharmaceuticals portfolios and brands acquired from Cipla and Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories, and operates its own WHO-GMP certified manufacturing facility supporting a growing CDMO operation and export presence.
The proceeds will support deeper penetration into core specialties, entry into adjacent therapeutic areas, continued brand acquisitions, and further investment in manufacturing and R&D.
“Linux was built on the conviction that a focused, science-led portfolio with affordability and access to quality healthcare can compete with the largest players in Indian pharma. ChrysCapital and Tata Capital Healthcare Fund III bring the sector experience and capital to take that conviction into a much larger business,” said S Ananda Kumar, Co-Founder and Executive Director, Linux
