The Uttar Pradesh government is acquiring 1,000 acres to develop a data centre and IT hub in the Bundelkhand region. Of the target, 810 acres have been acquired so far, and officials are working to complete the remaining land acquisition.
The hub will be part of the Bundelkhand Industrial Development Authority (BIDA), a planned industrial zone covering 56,662 acres across 33 villages, modelled on Noida and Greater Noida. The government has approved acquisition of 35,298 acres in the first phase and 21,364 acres in the second.
BIDA has acquired 28,874 acres, more than 80% of the first-phase target. It has marked 2,320 acres as an activation area, of which 1,000 acres are proposed for development, and a Detailed Project Report has been submitted to the government. A draft sector plan is ready and will be finalised after the BIDA Master Plan 2045 is approved.
The authority expects the zone to host automotive, defence, FMCG, healthcare, logistics, IT and institutional sectors. The project is meant to provide infrastructure for technology-led industries and support the state’s goal of a USD 1 trillion economy. Chief Secretary S P Goyal has directed officials to speed up land acquisition for BIDA and other large industrial projects.
