Non-Tech Roles to Power India’s GCC Boom: Demand Set to Cross Half a Million

Demand for non-tech roles in India’s Global Capability Centres is expected to cross half a million by 2028, according to Quess Corp’s latest report titled “India’s GCC Non-Tech Talent Landscape.” The report finds digitally enabled business functions emerging as a growth engine alongside technology roles.
Sales Operations, Finance and Business Operations together account for over 60 per cent of non-tech GCC demand. These roles are increasingly requiring digital platforms, analytics, automation and AI-enabled ways of working, with demand rising 17.2 per cent year-on-year in the first half of 2026. Mid-level professionals with 7-12 years of experience accounted for nearly 60 per cent of non-tech GCC demand in 2025, growing at a three-year CAGR of 21 per cent to an estimated 2.5 lakh roles in 2026, reflecting demand for process ownership and transformation delivery.
Bengaluru anchors the ecosystem with nearly 25 per cent of total non-tech demand in the first half of 2026, followed by Delhi (12 per cent), Mumbai (10 per cent), Hyderabad (9 per cent) and Pune (7 per cent). Emerging locations and Tier-2 cities now account for nearly 35 per cent of non-tech GCC demand. Pharma & Healthcare leads demand for non-tech roles, followed by BFSI and Technology & Product, driven by governance, analytics and compliance capabilities.
“India’s GCCs are entering their most consequential decade yet, because AI is changing what these centres are built to do. Centres that were set up to execute instructions are becoming intelligence and strategy hubs, trusted with judgment rather than just delivery. By 2028, the centres that lead won’t be the ones with the largest headcount, but the ones that have fused domain expertise with AI-enabled decision-making across every function,” said Kapil Joshi, CEO of IT Staffing, Quess Corp.
The report projects that growth for non-tech GCCs through 2028 will be defined by capability-led hiring rather than volume, with Business Operations & Transformation remaining the primary driver, alongside continued momentum in Finance, Sales & Marketing, Supply Chain & Procurement, HR and Research & Analytics.
