Software Technology Parks of India (STPI), under the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), has inaugurated a new incubation facility at IT Park, Sahastradhara Road, Dehradun. Jitin Prasada, Union Minister of State for Electronics and IT and Commerce and Industry, inaugurated it on October 22. Uttarakhand IT Minister Pradeep Batra and Agriculture Minister Ganesh Joshi were present.

The facility covers about 30,000 sq. ft. across four floors. It has semi-furnished office spaces, high-speed internet, an auditorium, two meeting rooms, two conference rooms and a Network Operations Centre. It is meant for IT/ITeS companies and startups in the state. According to Prasada, Uttarakhand has more than 1,700 recognised startups.

STPI Dehradun was established in 2001 with the state government’s support and implements the STP, Non-STP and EHTP schemes. Its existing incubation facility at IT Park has about 19,533 sq. ft. of super built-up space.

Under the Next Generation Incubation Scheme (NGIS), 52 startups have been selected through challenge programmes. Seventeen received seed funding totalling INR 4.25 crore (USD 0.48 million), and over 26 received stipends of INR 90,000 (USD 1,000) each.

Arvind Kumar, Director General, STPI, said: “One of STPI’s key strengths is its nationwide network, which enables startups to access investors, expertise and technology solutions from across the country, beyond their immediate ecosystem. The new incubation facility in Dehradun will provide infrastructure for emerging IT/ITeS enterprises looking to establish or expand their operations, while also supporting startups through mentorship, industry connections and Centres of Entrepreneurship focused on addressing real-world challenges, including cybersecurity.”
