Infineon to Acquire Bengaluru-Based C2i Semiconductors

German semiconductor major Infineon Technologies will acquire Bengaluru-based power-management semiconductor startup C2i Semiconductors to strengthen its solutions for AI data centres. Financial details of the transaction were not disclosed.
Infineon plans to use C2i’s technology and expertise to establish a centre of excellence for digital power technologies in India. The acquisition is aimed at addressing the growing demand for efficient power delivery as AI data centres use increasingly power-intensive GPUs.
“Through this acquisition, Infineon will strengthen its power solutions for AI data centers and establish a digital power technology center in India,” said Adam White, President of Infineon’s Power Systems division. He added that C2i Semiconductors’ expertise in software-defined power management and system-level architectures will help accelerate innovation in next-generation power delivery solutions and create greater value for customers.
C2i specialises in software-defined multiphase controllers and smart power stages for AI data centres. Its technology will complement Infineon’s power semiconductor and power supply portfolio for AI servers and high-performance computing platforms.
The Bengaluru-based startup was founded in 2024 by former Texas Instruments executives. C2i recently taped out a power-management chip designed to address the energy requirements of GPUs used in AI applications.

The acquisition is expected to expand Infineon’s semiconductor research and development capabilities in India while strengthening its AI data centre power-management business.
