Nasscom Foundation Appoints U B Pravin Rao as Chairperson
Pravin Rao succeeds Rostow Ravanan as Nasscom Foundation marks 25 years of technology-driven social impact.

Nasscom Foundation has appointed U B Pravin Rao as its new Chairperson, succeeding Rostow Ravanan, who has stepped down after completing his tenure. The leadership transition comes as the organisation marks 25 years of its work in leveraging technology for social impact.
Ravanan’s tenure is noted for strengthening the Foundation’s governance and sharpening its strategic direction. During this period, the organisation expanded its initiatives across digital inclusion, skilling and employability, women entrepreneurship, social innovation, and support for the NGO ecosystem. These efforts were aligned with its broader mission of promoting inclusive growth through technology.
Reflecting on his new role, Pravin Rao said, “While technology is often viewed through the lens of growth, its true potential lies in expanding access and opportunity. That is what makes Nasscom Foundation’s mission particularly important. I am honored to take on this role as we celebrate 25 years of the Foundation’s journey.” He added that he looks forward to building on the existing foundation to drive “the next wave of technology led innovation and impact.”
With over 35 years of experience in the technology sector, Rao brings expertise in global operations, large-scale transformation, and execution. His previous association with Nasscom, including leadership roles, is expected to provide continuity as the Foundation advances its priorities in line with the government’s vision of a developed India.
Rostow Ravanan described his tenure as a meaningful experience, stating, “It has been a profound honor to serve as Chairperson of Nasscom Foundation.” He added that he steps down with “deep satisfaction” after helping build a resilient and values-driven team, expressing confidence that the organisation will continue to expand access to digital literacy and future-ready skills.
Established in 2001, Nasscom Foundation operates as a not-for-profit representing the Indian technology industry. It continues to focus on key areas such as digital literacy, employability, women entrepreneurship, and strengthening the NGO ecosystem through technology-driven interventions.
