Amazon Web Services India Pvt. Ltd. has partnered with Yotta Data Services to deploy hybrid cloud infrastructure for the National Informatics Centre under the Meghraj 2.0 initiative.
The collaboration aims to enable Government of India departments to adopt advanced cloud services while ensuring data residency, security, and compliance requirements are met.
The deployment will use AWS Outposts to extend cloud capabilities into NIC data centres, allowing sensitive workloads to remain on premises while benefiting from advanced AWS services. These include security features powered by the AWS Nitro System and managed services such as Amazon Elastic Kubernetes Service, Amazon Relational Database Service, and Amazon Simple Storage Service.
The hybrid architecture will allow government departments to run critical workloads within NIC facilities while accessing cloud resources when needed. During peak demand for citizen-facing services, applications can expand to the AWS Region in India for tasks such as data ingestion and processing. Data can then synchronise back to NIC data centres within hours, enabling elastic scaling beyond physical capacity constraints.
Security and governance remain central to the initiative. Using AWS Control Tower, NIC will be able to enforce standardised security guardrails and baseline configurations for new workloads, reducing risks caused by manual configuration errors and preventing security drift.
Sandeep Dutta, President, AWS India and South Asia, said, “This synergy with Yotta represents AWS’s commitment to supporting the Government of India’s digital transformation vision. By deploying AWS Outposts for NIC Meghraj 2.0, we’re enabling government departments to leverage the full power of our cloud services and generative AI capabilities while meeting the requirements for sensitive workloads.”
Sunil Gupta, Co-founder, Managing Director and CEO of Yotta Data Services, added, “This collaboration strengthens Yotta’s mission to power India’s sovereign and secure digital infrastructure for government, enabling scalable citizen services while ensuring data residency and security.”
