INSEAD has received USD 3 million from Google.org and Google DeepMind to establish the Research Lab for Human and Organisational Thriving (INSEAD Thrive Lab). The school announced it at the INSEAD AI Forum Asia in Singapore.

The lab will research how people and organisations can adapt to continuous technological change. It will look at how to strengthen human, social and psychological capital, and how learning ecosystems across education, community and professional settings need to evolve. Its work is organised around three areas: Learning, Working and Relating.

It sits under INSEAD’s Human and Machine Intelligence Institute (HUMII), whose core academic team includes 2025 Nobel laureate in Economics Philippe Aghion and 2025 Oskar Morgenstern Medallist Phanish Puranam. Winnie Jiang, Associate Professor of Organisational Behaviour at INSEAD, is the lab’s Academic Director.

The lab will offer a PhD research award and a postdoctoral fellowship for scholars working on human meaning and flourishing and host an annual global conference. It will also run research-to-practice partnerships with organisations, schools and governments, along with workshops, talks and dialogues.

The AI Forum Asia follows editions in Europe and America. The next will be held in the UAE on 27–28 January 2027.

Winnie Jiang said: “We want to understand how people can expand their capabilities, build economically viable and psychologically meaningful working lives, and cultivate strong relationships with others in the age of artificial intelligence.”
