Google Cloud has introduced Gemini Enterprise for Legal, an enterprise-grade agentic AI solution designed for legal industry workflows. It is available in preview and debuts with launch customers Cleary, Freshfields, Weil, and Williams & Connolly.

The solution is announced alongside Gemini Enterprise for Financial Services, the first two in a planned series of industry-specific solutions built on the Gemini Enterprise platform. Each includes tailored agents, workflow-specific skills, data connectors, and model optimizations for a given industry.

Gemini Enterprise for Legal is built to handle requirements specific to legal work, including confidentiality, ethical walls, and verified legal authority. It connects to document and matter management systems to inherit a firm’s existing ethical walls, and grounds research outputs in primary legal sources rather than model training data. Client data, playbooks, and case files remain within the organization’s private environment.

The solution has four components: specialized skills for tasks such as brief drafting, citation verification, contract lifecycle management, regulatory scanning, and data subject access request (DSAR) fulfillment; Model Context Protocol connectors to platforms including Docusign, Everlaw, iManage, NetDocuments, RelativityOne, Thomson Reuters, and CourtListener.com; access to a partner network of legal tech providers and consulting firms including Accenture, Deloitte, and KPMG; and a governance layer with audit logging and risk controls.

Use cases include regulatory horizon scanning, DSAR automation, contract review against enterprise playbooks, playbook creation from legacy agreements, motion-to-seal document preparation, and NDA drafting.

“With agentic AI, legal professionals have the ability to research across historical case law, build complex arguments, and automate mundane tasks that can provide enormous value to their clients,” said Thomas Kurian, CEO, Google Cloud. He added that ensuring accuracy and grounding in legal authority remains critical to these workflows.

Base models are not trained on customer data, and the solution inherits existing organizational permissions through direct connectors.
