Eternal, the parent company of Zomato and Blinkit, plans to launch dark.ai, a privacy-focused AI assistant, globally by the end of 2026. Founder Deepinder Goyal announced the plan in the company’s Q2 FY27 shareholders’ letter, released with its September-quarter results.
Dark will use fine-tuned frontier open-weight models running on Eternal’s own infrastructure, with end-to-end encryption and an encrypted memory layer controlled by users, designed so the company cannot read conversations. Goyal said the company has tested the platform internally for several months and that benchmarks will be released soon.
He traced the idea to an “unsettling” exchange with Anthropic’s Claude. Eternal has not announced pricing, availability details or a specific launch date. Emkay Global reportedly expects the initial capital expenditure to be modest, though it could rise with the product’s success.
“Dark is built for power users — founders, researchers, scientists, enterprises and governments — who want to keep their thoughts private, because privacy is essential for competitiveness,” Goyal said in the letter. “Dark will launch globally, hopefully within 2026.”
