Ola Electric has launched three new battery energy storage systems (BESS) as part of its push into the energy solutions business. The launch comes nearly a year after Ola Electric introduced its first residential BESS, Ola Shakti, in October 2025.

The lineup includes the second generation of its residential storage system Ola Shakti, the commercial and industrial-focused Shakti Rack, and Mahashakti, built for utility-scale storage needs.

“The product portfolio leverages the company’s integrated capabilities across battery cells, battery packs and energy storage systems, further strengthening its energy solutions portfolio,” Ola Electric said in a regulatory filing.

A BESS stores electricity using rechargeable batteries and releases it when needed, including surplus power from solar or wind sources. All three products are meant for the domestic market.

Ola Shakti Gen 2, the residential unit, can run household appliances such as fans and refrigerators. It will be available in two configurations: a 4.6 kWh battery with 3 kW power, and a 9.2 kWh battery with 6 kW power. Both offer 1.5 hours of backup at full load. Powered by Ola Electric’s in-house 4680 Bharat lithium-ion cell, the 3 kW variant is priced at ₹99,000 and the 6 kW variant at nearly ₹1.75 lakh. Deliveries begin November 2026.

For commercial and industrial use, the company launched AC and DC racks under the Shakti brand. The Shakti AC Rack offers 73 kWh energy capacity, 18-50 kW inverter power, and 415V three-phase AC output, with air-cooled thermal management. It is built for loads needing three-phase AC backup and peak-shaving and is expected to be available by March 2027.

Shakti DC is a modular battery cabinet for commercial DC applications, with a capacity of 38-77 kWh per rack at 48V. It is also slated for sale by March 2027.

Mahashakti, the utility-scale platform, targets large commercial and industrial uses such as assembly lines, grid infrastructure and data centres. The company also introduced Mahashakti Rack, the modular unit inside the containerised system, with a capacity of 257 kWh per rack, up to 125 kW power, and a 1331.2V DC bus voltage. Four racks combine with a power conversion system to form one Mahashakti container, delivering 6.26 MWh capacity and 2.5 MW power. The LFP-based system can scale from a single container to GWh-level installations.
