Gwalior Telecom Zone Draws INR 5,500 Cr Investment Pledges
24 companies propose INR 5,500 crore investment in Gwalior’s upcoming Telecom Manufacturing Zone in Madhya Pradesh.

Communications Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia said 24 companies have submitted investment proposals worth INR 5,500 crore for the proposed Telecom Manufacturing Zone (TMZ) in Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh, which is being positioned as Asia’s first dedicated telecom manufacturing zone.
Investor roadshows held in Delhi and Mumbai in August, led by Scindia and Chief Minister Mohan Yadav, generated commitments of around INR 3,500 crore and INR 2,000 crore respectively. Scindia said the proposals are backed by formal applications rather than verbal interest, with companies asked to participate in the application process at the time of land allotment.
The first phase of the project has identified about 170 acres, with over 90 acres in Shrimant Madhavrao Scindia Counter Magnet City and more than 70 acres in the IT Park. Investor interest has already exceeded the land available, prompting authorities to identify additional land for expansion. A proposed common testing laboratory package of around INR 500 crore is also under consideration to support regulatory and technical testing for telecom equipment.
An approximately 120-km Agra-Gwalior high-speed corridor is being developed to connect Gwalior with Delhi and major North Indian markets. Gwalior also produces around 25,000 engineering graduates annually, supporting the zone’s projected workforce needs. The project is expected to create over 18,000 direct and indirect jobs.
