Aum Ventures led a INR 17 crore investment in Bengaluru‑based SpaceTech company OXG Space, started by former ISRO engineers Akash Shetty and Sanjay Gorur, who together brings an experience of 17 years in India’s space programmes.
The money came from India Innovation Fund II, which Aum Ventures is raising at INR 750 crore. Pawan Kumar Chandana and Bharath Daka co‑founders of Skyroot Aerospace and Dr Chiran Phanindra, founder of Cosmoserve also joined the investment. I am excited to see Aum Ventures lead this round.
OXG Space need is greatest in defence and intelligence where India is growing space‑based surveillance with radar and signals‑intelligence satellites. Linking these sensors in time is hard when data can only be combined on the ground hours after contact. I hope this helps defence agencies.
“We are putting the network and the compute in orbit, where the data is created, so that operators can reach their satellites at any time and act on what they see while it still matters,” said Akash Shetty and Sanjay Gorur, Co-founders, OXG Space.
The money will back Mission Synapse, a 12‑month programme that will show three technologies in orbit: a Ka‑band phased‑array antenna aiming for an initial 1 Gbps link with plans to reach 64 Gbps per spacecraft; a deployable mesh reflector for the ground link; and a scalable deployable solar array to power in‑orbit computing and communications equipment. I look forward to the results of Mission Synapse.
“Earth-observation constellations are growing fast, but most of what they capture waits hours for a ground pass and loses value every hour it waits. OXG Space is building the missing layer, connectivity and compute in orbit, so that data becomes intelligence while it still matters,” said Chetan Mehta, Founding Partner, Aum Ventures.
