Rural omnichannel retail platform Rozana has raised INR 290 crore (USD 31.6 million) in a Series B funding round led by Bertelsmann India Investments.
The round also saw participation from Fireside Ventures, US-based Spark Growth Ventures, Bikaji Family Office, FE Securities and several other family offices.
The company said the fresh capital will be used to strengthen its technology infrastructure, expand product categories, build private label offerings and deepen partnerships with consumer brands.
Founded in 2021 by Ankur Dahiya, Adwait Vikram Singh and Mukesh Christopher, Rozana operates a rural-focused omnichannel retail model that combines a consumer mobile application with physical retail experience centres and a proprietary distribution network.
The company currently runs more than 75 retail experience centres and works with over 35,000 women partners who act as last-mile fulfilment agents in their local communities. These partners help deliver orders and connect households in villages to the platform’s retail network.
According to the company, its hybrid commerce infrastructure now covers around 21,000 villages across the Gangetic plains, a region that accounts for more than half of India’s rural population. The platform currently serves over one million active households across Uttar Pradesh and Haryana.
As part of its next phase of growth, Rozana plans to expand its retail network to more than 200 stores and enter two to three additional northern states across the Gangetic belt. Over the longer term, the company aims to extend its presence to around 130,000 villages.
Rozana began operations in the Rae Bareli district of Uttar Pradesh and has since expanded to 16 districts across Uttar Pradesh and Haryana. Its product range includes groceries, fast-moving consumer goods, home essentials, footwear, beauty and personal care items, and other general merchandise.
To date, the company has raised nearly USD 60 million in total funding. In March 2024, it secured USD 22.5 million in a Series A round led by Bertelsmann India Investments with participation from Fireside Ventures and other investors. Earlier, the startup raised USD 2.5 million in a pre-Series A round in April 2022.
