IAN Alpha Fund, the second fund in IAN Group’s venture capital series, has led a INR 27 crore funding round in ThinkMetal, an advanced materials and manufacturing technology company. 3i Partners and existing investors also participated.
The capital will support product development, expansion of materials and R&D capabilities, team strengthening and wider adoption of ThinkMetal’s technology among industrial customers.
Manufacturing high-value precision metal parts often involves long lead times, expensive tooling, specialised equipment and dependence on imported technologies. ThinkMetal is building an integrated stack combining advanced materials, manufacturing processes, industrial systems and application development to address this. Its current commercial product is SistemT1, an industrial metal additive manufacturing system powered by its proprietary FuseX metal filament technology.
Founded by Sabyasachi Ghosh and Arushi Sharma, ThinkMetal has moved from technology development to enterprise application-led pilots and is now targeting larger commercial deployments. It serves industrial manufacturers in aerospace, defence, space, automotive and electric mobility, and is expanding its materials library and in-house capabilities for processing newer materials. The company estimates a global opportunity of about $110 billion across advanced manufacturing and materials.
“Our long-term focus remains on building deep indigenous capabilities in materials and manufacturing technologies from India for global markets,” said Sabyasachi Ghosh, Co-founder and CEO, ThinkMetal.
“It’s platform enables manufacturers to produce high-value precision metal parts up to 10x faster and at half the cost, with part quality tested at NABL/ASME-accredited labs. With 17+ IPs already filed, Arushi and Sabyasachi have built a genuine deep-tech moat,” said Rajnish Kapur, Managing Partner, IAN Alpha Fund.
