Additionally, he outlined why the company is entering a new phase of expansion driven by innovation. Here are five key takeaways from his address in the AGM.
- Mahindra Is Now in ‘Attack Mode’
Anand Mahindra said the group is moving from ‘navigation to acceleration’. Using the example of Formula E racing, he explained that attack mode gives drivers extra power for a limited period to make decisive moves. He said Mahindra is also entering a similar phase where it is ready to move faster after spending years building a strong foundation. He clarified that attack mode does not mean taking unnecessary risks, but using the company’s strengths at the right time. “We are shifting from navigation to acceleration. It is time for attack mode,” he said.
- India Is Becoming a ‘Connector Economy’
Mahindra said the world is changing because of geopolitical developments and shifts in global trade. In this environment, he believes India has an opportunity to become a ‘connector economy’ by working with different countries instead of choosing sides. He said, “India’s manufacturing capability, talent and growing economy put it in a strong position to play this role. India is emerging as a connector economy.”
- Innovation Will Drive Mahindra’s Next Phase
Speaking about innovation, Mahindra said the company has invested consistently in technology and research over the years. He highlighted that the number of granted patents has increased from 56 to more than 1,300, showing how innovation has become an important part of Mahindra’s business. He said building intellectual property will continue to support the company’s future growth.
- Mahindra Will Continue Investing
He said the company will continue making long-term investments even if the global environment remains uncertain. He referred to the planned INR 15,000 crore investment in Nagpur over the next 10 years as an example of Mahindra’s confidence in India’s future. He said,“We invest for the long term, not for the next quarter.”
- Don’t Wait for Perfect Conditions
Ending his address, Mahindra said businesses cannot wait until everything becomes clear before taking decisions. “We cannot wait for perfect visibility. We have to accelerate through the fog.” He said companies need to move forward even during uncertain times if they have confidence in their strategy and execution. He added that Mahindra will continue to move ahead with the same approach.
