Anthropic Names Sangeeta Bavi as Head of Digital Natives and Startups in India

AI safety and research company Anthropic has appointed Sangeeta Bavi as Head of Digital Natives, Startups and Growth for India, as it expands its presence in the country.
In her new role, Bavi will focus on driving adoption of Anthropic’s AI assistant, Claude, among Indian startups and mid-sized businesses.
The move comes as the company strengthens its engagement with India’s growing startup ecosystem.
Announcing her appointment on LinkedIn, Bavi said, “Founders have always held a special place in my heart. Their ambition, resilience, and belief that they can change the world have taught me more than any other form of learning.” She added that joining Anthropic “feels deeply meaningful.”
Bavi brings extensive experience in the startup and technology sectors. She previously served as Chief Operating Officer at YourStory Media, where she led operational transformation and worked on diversifying revenue streams. Before that, she was Director of Startup Business at Microsoft, where she built the company’s startup-focused initiatives in India.
Anthropic has been steadily expanding its footprint in India, which has emerged as its second-largest market for Claude, contributing about 7.2% of global usage. The company is also preparing to open its first office in Bengaluru to support local hiring and enterprise growth.
Earlier this year, Anthropic appointed Irina Ghose to lead India operations and Amlan Mohanty as Head of India Policy and External Affairs.
