Drone delivery platform Skye Air Mobility has announced the first close of its Series B funding round, raising USD 9 million to support the expansion of its autonomous logistics network in India.

The investment round was led by IAN Alpha Fund, the second venture capital fund from the Indian Angel Network (IAN) Group. The round also saw participation from AVNM Ventures, Faad Capital, Bajaj Capital and other investors. The participation of multiple funds highlights growing interest in drone-led logistics and emerging physical AI infrastructure in the country.

The newly raised capital will be used to expand operations beyond the Delhi-NCR region. Skye Air plans to launch services in several major cities including Bengaluru, Mumbai, Pune, Hyderabad and Kolkata.

In addition to geographic expansion, the firm intends to strengthen its technology capabilities across drone operations, airspace management and autonomous logistics systems.

Founded by Ankit Kumar, Skye Air focuses on hyperlocal drone deliveries designed to improve last-mile logistics. The company combines autonomous drones, airspace management systems and ground-based delivery infrastructure to support faster deliveries in densely populated urban areas.

A key part of its operations is Skye UTM, an AI-powered aerial traffic management system that coordinates drone movements and monitors urban airspace. The platform is designed to enable multiple drones to operate safely across different routes, making high-density delivery networks possible.

According to the company, Skye Air has completed more than 3.6 million autonomous deliveries within a little over two years of operations. The company also estimates that its drone operations have helped eliminate more than 1,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions, highlighting the potential environmental benefits of aerial logistics.

Skye Air’s drones are capable of carrying payloads of up to 10 kilograms and are designed for applications across e-commerce, healthcare and industrial supply chains.

The platform claims that it is already working with enterprise customers such as Blue Dart Express, Shiprocket, Flipkart, Frido, Tata 1MG and Zepto as it continues to develop drone-based logistics solutions for high-volume delivery networks.
