The first edition of the Viksit Tech 47 Report, prepared by Techarc as knowledge partner to India Mobile Congress, has identified 129 Indian-owned brands across gadgets, devices, appliances and connected cars. Together, these brands generate more than INR 60,000 crore in annual revenue, with an average of about INR 465 crore per brand.
The report was released at the India Mobile Congress 2026 Viksit Tech 47 spotlight programme. It aims to measure the value generated by consumer technology brands owned by Indian companies.
Of the 129 brands tracked, 14 generate more than INR 500 crore in revenue, while only two have crossed INR 2,000 crore. This compares with India’s electronics production of INR13.11 lakh crore in FY2025-26.
The report projects that the combined revenue of the 129 brands could reach INR 1.11 lakh crore by FY2031 and INR 2.04 lakh crore by FY2036, assuming annual growth of around 13%. If Indian brands increase their share in smart and connected segments, the figures could reach INR 1.26 lakh crore and INR 2.65 lakh crore, respectively.
The report also introduces the TAME model, which tracks the evolution of brands from Trade to Assemble, Manufacture and Engineer. It estimates revenue ceilings of around INR 500 crore, INR 5,000 crore and INR 50,000 crore across the first three stages. The Engineer stage involves ownership of design, software and intellectual property.
The report identifies gaps including domestic electronics value addition of about 17%, limited market share for Indian smartphone brands, low spending on design and R&D, and limited patient capital for hardware businesses.
It sets an ambition for India to build 50 brands generating more than INR 1 lakh crore each by 2047. Achieving the target would require annual growth of about 25% over two decades.
P Ramakrishna, Chief Executive Officer, India Mobile Congress, said, βA nation that aspires to be Viksit by 2047 must do more than make products for others. It must create, own and scale its own brands, and see them succeed in India and around the world.β
The report is based on government data, regulator reports, company annual reports, DRHP filings and Techarc’s research. Its revenue figures and growth projections are estimates by Techarc.
